All of our exhibitions and programs are free and open to the public.
Directions & Parking
The Paul Robeson Galleries curates exhibitions across a number of spaces on the Rutgers University – Newark campus and in Express Newark; visit our Venues page to learn more. All of our galleries are accessible by a number of different public and private transit options. We encourage you to use Google maps for the route that makes the most sense for you.
Deck 1: Located at 200 University Avenue is available to all types of student permit holders and authorized visitors. Resident permit holders have reserved spaces in this location. Open 24 hours.
Deck 2: Located at 166 Washington Street, is available to commute student permit holders. The facility is open 24 hours. Assigned resident permit holders have reserved spaces in this location.
Deck 3: Located at 180 Washington Street, is available to commuter student permit holders and authorized visitors Monday thru. Saturday 5:30am – 12:00am.
Deck 4: Located at 134 Washington St, is available to commuter student permit holders and authorized visitors.
Meter rates are $1.00 per hour.
Bleeker Street: Two hour limit during pay hours. Paid meter parking Monday through Saturday, 7am – 6pm
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Two hour limit during pay hours. Paid meter parking Monday through Saturday, 7am – 6pm
Halsey Street: Two hour limit during pay hours. Paid meter parking Monday through Saturday, 9am – 6pm
University Avenue: Two hour limit during pay hours. Paid meter parking Monday through Saturday, 7am – 6pm
Warren Street: Two hour limit during pay hours. Paid meter parking Monday through Saturday, 7am – 8pm
Washington Avenue: One hour limit during pay hours. Paid meter parking Monday through Saturday, 9am – 6pm
The Whole Foods located at 54 Halsey Street also offers a lower level parking garage as well, it can be entered from New Street. Hours of operation and rates are as follow:
Monday – Friday, 6am – 10pm
Saturday & Sunday, 7am – 9pm
Up to ½ Hour – $3.00
Up to 1 Hour – $5.00
Up to 2 Hours – $9.00
Up to 4 Hours – $11.00
Max to close – $13.00
Early Bird Special – $9.00 (Up to 10 Hours if you enter between 6am – 9am)
Whole Foods also offers Free Parking for 90 minutes if you spend $10 or more at their location.
Accessible areas are designated with appropriate signage and stalls ground-marked with wheelchair symbols. Designated spaces may be used by University handicap permit holders, or by visitors displaying state disability vehicle ID/plates, and the appropriate visitor permit. Visitor accessible parking can be found on Bleeker Street, and in Deck 1.

The Paul Robeson Galleries follow the Rutgers University – Newark holiday schedule, and closes on: New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving; and Christmas through New Year’s Day.
