Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an Artist I. As part of the basic functioning of an art gallery, the Paul Robeson Galleries regularly plans and executes exhibitions of contemporary visual art. Art requires specialized handling by professional preparators for unpacking, installation, de-installation, maintenance, packing, and transportation. Artworks are protected by loan agreements and under a Rutgers insurance policy to protect them from damage by mishandling. The Artist 1 is responsible for the following and not limited to:
- Installs and de-installs exhibitions all throughout the Rutgers Newark campus;
- Assists in the transportation of artwork;
- Oversees inventory, artwork storage and art preparation in keeping with standard museum protocols.
