THE EVENT
A rare opportunity for viewers to encounter Jill Sigman as she provides access to the creative process, through the presentation of a work in progress. This Process Performance relates to a large project she is working on whilst Artist In Residence. Of her performance, Sigman states, “Re-Seeding is a multi-modal project that includes performance, clay work, tea sharing, and reflection about the histories of this land. THE ARTIST
Jill Sigman is a Brooklyn-born interdisciplinary artist and agent of change whose work exists at the intersection of dance, visual art, and social practice. She founded jill sigman/thinkdance in 1998 to think about pressing social issues through the body.
THE COLLABORATION
Sigman’s residency was made possible through a collaboration between the Paul Robeson Galleries and The Clement A. Price Institute on Ethnicity, Culture and the Modern Experience.
