About

The Life and Times of the Blue Fairy is a narrative body of paintings that use as its central character the Blue Fairy, the magical being who transforms Pinocchio into a real boy. In these paintings, Theresa DeSalvio explores the thoughts and actions of the Blue Fairy in her daily life, her childhood memories and travel. The artist uses simplified space and bold color to highlight the emotionally charged narrative of the paintings.

Theresa DeSalvio is a painter, author and filmmaker. Her paintings encompass imagery based on childhood memories, everyday life and travel. DeSalvio has explored psychological and social issues in her work that have included addiction (heroin), survival (cancer) and social interactions. In addition to making paintings, DeSalvio has been making videos that extend the narrative of her work. DeSalvio holds a Master of Fine Arts from Hunter College, City University of New York and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, New York.
