About

A traveling exhibition of work by Newark-born artist Grace Hartigan, focusing on women in the positions of narrator and as leading character. Hartigan was considered one of the most promising lights in American painting by 1949, while she was still in her twenties. Her work insightfully acknowledged the insistent representational aspects which structured the modernist work of painters Jackson Pollock and Willem DeKooning.
